Alberta Beverage Container Recycling
Success facilitated and documented the initial Alberta Beverage Container
Recycling Corporation (ABCRC) Strategic Information and Technology Plan
in 1996. This Plan laid out a course of migration from character-based
UNIX accounting focused systems to mainstream Windows technologies. ABCRC
provides used beverage container recycling services on behalf of bottlers,
manufacturers, and importers of ready-to-drink beverages in Alberta, complying
with provincial legislation and working closely with independent return centres
(depots) and the provincial agency, the Beverage Container Management Board.
Success provided the detailed analysis, design and construction and
implementation of a set of operations applications that operate in a replicated
environment between their Calgary and Edmonton locations. The applications
are used to reconcile off-loads of used beverage containers from depots throughout
the province and to automatically calculate and generate electronic payment to
depots and transport carriers bi-weekly. Integrated applications manage the
processed inventory bale weights and track shipments to re-manufacturers.
